Could resist putting on new factory 16 alloy wheels and tyres on my newest purchase a 2004 sting red vz wagon when a set turned up reasonably cheap secondhand and they really set the car off from the stocko steel and hubcaps....had to clean up the rust off the disc hubs and give them some silver caliper paint.
Only problem is the tyre size is 225/55 series....wondered what difference the extra 5% will make to things on the car like speedo etc....funny thing is that they came off a vz commodore and I didnt bother to check the size before I bought them because they looked so clean and there was so much tread on the tyres.

Drove the car and it seems to be ok the traffic sits on the same speed on open road around 100kph.
Also noticed with new wheels that the stud length on rear is just long enough for factory mag nut with nothing to spare...seems to have enough but they could have had and extra 10mm for safety.

shouldnt make a noticable difference with 16' wheels.

What is the standard size. I think you will probably find there is bugger all difference in rolling circumference.

Check this link out. You can put your tyre size in and it tells you the rolling circumference and diameter. Then you can check if there is any difference.

If there is the dash can be reprogramed at holden with Tech2. They change the PPK value in the dash to compensate for different wheel sizes and different diff ratios.

Thanks for that info....it looks like it changes the rolling circumference by 70mm so that is fairly significant the speedo will read roughly 3 % slower than it should.Turns out the actual wheel/tyre size combination is used in utes but it will fit any commodore of the same vintage and I reckon looks better than the 16 inch wheels you an get on current option on new commodore wagons.

It's the same colour renamed for a new model, same paint code.
