vs 5.0l
I have just purchased a manual, stacked vz clubby to transplant motor and running gear into my auto 2002 wh stato.

Some questions i need answered before i begin my conversion.

1. Wiring looms: Are they the same? what plugs strait up and what doesn't?
What needs to be changed/modified? Can i keep my standard stato dash, c/c, cluster and everything?

2. What is involved in putting the 6 speed in my stato? Does anythin have to be changed? I understand pedals and other bits and peices but what bout speedo, computer, body control module, anythin?

Has any1 done this conversion and how hard is it?

either keep searching or try the internet.
i doubt there would be many, if any of these conversions out there.

Id only be guessing on most of it so ill leave it for someone else that may know.

I would assume the loom is going to be different, because Ls1 and ls2 and going from auto to manual. And you will have to get the tail shaft modified as well. Because the statesmans are a long wheel base like the ute and wagon, obviously different to a sedan

there are cam timing sensors that need to be changed to the vt sensors. involves pulling apart the motor to get to them.

VX SS (Original owner).
Do a search for a thing called a 'Reluctor Wheel' it is a toothed wheel which sits near the flywheel, there is a sensor that reads off that wheel to tell the computor the precise position of the crank as it rotates, the LS1 runs a 24x reluctor wheel and 1x cam gear, whilst the later engines run a 58x reluctor and 4x cam gear. To change the reluctor wheel the crankshaft has to be removed from the engine, however I have read that there is now some sort of 'Trigger conversion box' available that will convert the 24 signal to a 58 signal so gets over the problem, not sure how good they are, probably need to talk to one of the specialised LS1 workshops. I could probably find a link to the conversion box with a bit of a search, been reading up a bit on it myself as a future conversion for my VX SS.

Found a bit on the conversion box...Used when fitting a 58x reluctor engine into your VT-VZ so you dont have to change the reluctor and cam wheel
not sure how well they work.
