Dear Members,

I have decided to produce a Page for my 2006 VZ CX6 Adventra Project,
My "Out of Lockdown Getaway",
so you can expect what to look for when you purchase a Adventra,
And what possible will need to be replaced/repaired before you hit the road.

My insperation was from @Fu Manchu , and with his project,
that is a Crewman, and I have been reading of his progress.
His knowledge and encouragement is surpassed.

I have knowledge of my VY Super6, and my 2012 L77 VE Sportwgon, as I have owned and driven them for a number of years,
But, you can not go past OLD SCHOOL Knowledge, as some of the other members here at JC's are VERY Knowlegable,
You know who your are !!!,
So here goes !

This is a whole new ball game having a CX6, LY7 AWD Commodore Wagon.
I will update information where I can that may assist other Adventra Owners they may need Assistant/Help with their Adventra Project.

Your feed back/questions are most welcome, and will answer them when I can.

Looking forward to it, once upon a time I'd hoped to have a AWD model.

IMO, these were the best Holden made.
You’ll be hooked.

“All Terrain Action” on Facebook and YouTube are a good inspiration. Their website has heaps of good info.
https://www.allterrainaction.com/

The V8’s have now got a6L80e conversion kit thanks to forum member @CWG

The front k-frame and suspension components are unique to the vehicles.
They use Hummer traction control software. They use a BMW Transfercase.

We can use BMW X5 clips on the flares.

The front bumper profile and grill is not the same as regular VZ.

They stick to the road in the wet.

@wetwork65 @figjam @MuckUte and of course @CWG and his monster are a few owners of them.

Let’s not forget the Coupe4 as well, which shares the undercarriage.

No. However he has had lots of requests for one.
It was a huge task to engineer the 4L80e for it.
Clive will no doubt chime in

I hope your 5 speed trans is a good one. :)

Would that work on an the V6 Adventra ?
I’ll rephrase that.
Well, yes it would work, however someone has to make a rear housing and shaft first. So there’s that.

Photo’s of the vehicle in question,
It was purchased from a elderly gentleman from Ballarat early September.
238,4xx k/m and was looking a bit tired, however it drove ok, apart from a clunk in the front end, the following week I drove it home, and you always think, will I make it home, but sure enough it did. And left a trail of oil from Ballarat to Beaumaris,
The following day, jack it up and check the running gear, found -

Oil from the front to back end, I am assuming one of the seals has failed on the front chain timing case, as that is where it’s leaking from,
Full timing chain kit and gasket’s ordered.

Front brakes need replacing,
Wheel vibrates applying the brakes,
Front rotors and pads ordered,

Right tie rod is worn, possible the clunk I could hear, and especially when the brakes are applied,
2x tie rod ends ordered,

the Centre Bearing was “completely chewed out”, I was surprised it wasn’t thumping coming home, but I guess the AWD reduced the torque on the back wheels,

Fixed the Electric Radio Antenna, I think that was just connector in the guard, as the panel beaters had damaged the power wires, and just wire tied it together,
Cleaned the whole antenna and connection and worked perfectly.

Fixed the rear brakes, as the pistons had seized, the the previous person, and had siliconed the brake pads in the calliper, tried to fix the and adjust the hand brake, but the adjusters were full of mud,
Temporary put it back together, then went to jollys wreckers In Dandenong South and found a Car that had new rotors and pads on it, and good Hand Brake adjusters,
Grabbed all that gear, cleaned the rotors up, and serviced the hand brake adjusters, put it all together and the rear brakes work perfectly.

While “still waiting” for the rest of the hardware to arrive,
Fixed the Key remote fault, thinking it was the batteries, found a local person who sells the replacement batteries, I split the shells open and replaced the batteries, but that did not solve the issue,
so the common denominator has to be the car,
That’s when I ask a few questions about the receiver, and @Fu Manchu suggested it could be the Light Sensor/Key Receiver, he was correct, and pointed me in the right direction to it’s location, I read another JC’s member had an issue with their Keys and Holden wanted an arm and a leg to replace the BCM, but they sourced a second hand Light Sensor/Key Receiver and that fixed the fault.
So it was my turn to learn how to removed the old one, to check the part number
Which I had to remove the centre console/dash panels, so that has started me on the inside,
Pulled the centre dash out the clean it all,
I replaced the Light Sensor/Key Reader and both keys work perfectly, just like new.
Console next on the agenda.

I washed, cleaned the paint yesterday, and buffed it, sensational day for it,
But had the dirty rain today, :(
So it was time to move inside day ;)
