Hi all. I have a 2006 VZ Exec and the aerial sometimes won't go all the way down when I switch everything off. Also, I've been having a look at other VZs parked and the aerial not going all the way down seems to be a common problem with this model. Does anyone know if this is common, what the cause is and what the fix is. I've replaced the aerial once but it seems to be still happening.

It's common for this to happen on pretty much all commodores with an electric aerial at some point in time
The internal section of the mast is made of plastic and the cogs strip on them, that's why they won't retract all the way down 99.9% of the time
You can either fit a replacement mast or just replace the whole aerial assembly

Aerpro part numbers:
Replacement Mast......AP265
Replacement Aerial.....AP971

Had a similar problem with mine so I gave it a good clean with soapy steel wool, washed and dried it off, then wiped an oil soaked rag up and down it, lowered and raised it a couple of times, then cleaned the oil off and all good since.
