VZ Calais V6 aircon not working!

Hey Guys and Gals, I am new to this forum so this is to introduce myself and I also need some help in regards to my aircon in my VZ alloytec Calais.
The aircon turns on and I have full control all round but it is not cold at all, it seems to be just pushing through outside temp air or engine bay heat through my vents. Does it just need to be re-gassed? Or would I need a whole new compressor unit? Anyone out there that has had the same problem and got it fixed please HELP!!! It's been 35+ degrees and I have no aircon.

If the red light is showing on the switch, then advice as above.
edit. Reason I say that is, I never turn my air con off, so when battery has been disconnected and reconnected, I forget to push the tab on the switch until I realise I have no air con.
Mine dies a while ago, was the clutch which meant new compressor and regas.
