After heavy rain have very wet mats on drivers side. Have put hose on outside of car but can not find where water is coming in. Only after heavy rain on flat ground. Any ideas?

Could be thru the door as said above but also windscreen. Cars are surprisingly flexible and can move enough to disturb the glue.
Pull the A-pillar cover off, remove the grab handle, pop the screw cover off the B-pillar cover and remove that screw to aid assembly. Grab the cover with your hands and pull towards the Center of car. It may not be coming in here but for 5-10 mins work you can eliminate that. To fix you would just wipe a small amount of urethane from the outside after pulling up a small section of the windscreen mould. The urethane also holds the rubber mould in place so fit that back before it cures.
Pulling the kick panel off will eliminate a couple more locations too. Just hope it’s not from a rust hole under the plenum cover. Which would be visible running down the firewall as stated in the first reply

Also can be from the roof seem if there’s something going on. Under the black strip.

Most likely is the door. Water coming down the inside of the weather sheet, not draining and seeping out the bottom into the cabin.

I found seams not sealed in the wiper plenum area which sits above the footwell. Remove the wiper cowl and wiper assembly. Clean the area out and check all seams for holes or gaps. Closely.
