Vz commodore wont unlock

I have a VZ Commodore won't unlock by the button only when I use the key it will unlock then alarm goes off start car alarm goes away any idea what this could be is it just a battery in my fob

does it lock with remote,
does spare key/remote do the same thing

It does lock and unlock with the key I don't have a spare fob it will sometimes lock and unlock with the button

The battery is flat in the key.
No signal is received by the IR sensor in the top centre of the dash.
When you open the door with the key in the lock, the security system has not been disabled and the alarm goes off.
When you insert the key, the metal ring touches the nib on the key and the car powers the circuits in the key instead. Car starts.

Solutions:
1. Get a locksmith to reprogram a new key
2. Go to MrMinit and they can get a new key going.
3. You can buy the particular battery for the key. Open it up breaking the glue seal. Desolder the battery. Solder in the new battery.
4. Buy a cheapo key at SuperCrap and a programming OBD unit to reprogram your key. Starts to cost almost as much as a genuine key.
5. Don’t go within 1km of a Holden dealership with this issue or your pockets will be turned inside out.

You’ll need to do a quick search for the battery part number. It will have some tabs spot welded to it.

I was going to take it to a key place and hope they do it all for me

battery is cr2032-tab
but i strongly recommend not doing that
especially as that is your only remote
if you damage the transponder you will be so far up ship creek, we wont be able to see you
get a new remote from mr minute or a quality locksmith
they may give you instructions to enable the new remote which must be followed exactly, so read them twice

I locked my keys in vz this morning. 10 minutes I was in there with no damage. If I had listen to all comments on this forum I would of either had to smash window or ring rac etc. Piece of piss
