im writing this so anyone who has similar symptoms can google and hopefully find this thread. and not rip their hair out like i did haha

so a few weeks ago, while driving home at 100ks on cruise control. i noticed the cruise control automatically switched off, then i completely lost the rev gauge along with the engine light coming on.

i quickly pulled over, i tried to re-start the car to move over more in the emergency lane, but the car was very hard to crank over (cranking over a number of times before actually starting) after leaving it for 5 mins i restarted it and the problem had gone and i continued to drive home without any problems.

the next day i drove it again to test and once again did all the same things as above and realised it was going into a limp home mode.

i took it to a mechanic and was worried as i plugged a device similar to tech 2 and couldnt find any faults (but note, when i tested, the engine light and limb home mode werent on)

mechanic tested while the limp home mode was on. it turned out to be the crank angle sensor.

i just had it replaced, the crank angle sensor it self was only $100, but the labour on my car made it abit expensive due to large extractors.

(hopefully was the problem, yet to be fully tested)

    CLIFFS:
    - No Rev Gauge
    - Engine Light
    - Limp Home Mode
    - Tech 2 Checked With Fault Code Crank Angle Sensor
    - Replaced Crank Angle Sensor @ $300 incl labour

Crank Angle Sensors that start to malfunction can SOMETINES be 'resurrected' (temporarily) by pouring cool/cold water over. One of the apparent problems causing failure of these items is heat.

And also putting some electrical grease on the connector as you plug it back in saves a lot of trouble as well!
