Sorry if im kicking off a new thread and theres an old one but ive read into the manual that 5w is recommended but ive got some Penrite 15w - 60 around and was looking into using that. Any help would be awesome. Driving a vz acclaim in Sydney, mostly short trips.
I'd stick with the manufacturer's recommendation, 5W/30 or 10W/30 that meets and exceeds API SN/CF, ILSAC GF-4 requirement. Suitable for petrol, LPG or CNG cars, light commercial vehicles and 4WDs where API SN/CF or earlier specifications are recommended. *vs. API SN/CF Industry Standards. anything less may compromise the integrity of the engine components etc. Your car, your money, your choice. Good luck with whatever you decide on.
