    Hi Guys
Is it worth modyfing the exhaust?
    eg extra KW?

    Atm I have stock standad
The missus wont let me put extractors on it it
but i can put in bigger piper , high flow cats
and how do i go about the catalac convertor
    I think there is 2?

This car needs some kinda grumble sound

    Hey Mate

I think with the alloytec, that a 3" cat back exaust is going to be the best system for you, you could go the 2 1/2" like the ecotecs, though im sure reading somewhere that, it will decrease your performance, from a cat back exaust you might get like 2 - 3kw, though yeah, it'll sound better, though....

The alloytec is probably one of the only engines that respond really well to an exhaust mod. Some people have put 2 1/2" on and said they had good gains and little or no drone, some have put twin 2 1/4" and twin 2 1/2". From what I've supplied my self and the results my suppliers have, the 3" single is the best overall for power gain and economy, good note with no drone. $350 including shipping to NSW. It is a Manta, the same system FIT use, in fact, Manta make the systems for FIT.

man 3" exhaust is too big for the alloytec, they like to breathe but they need some back pressure, twin 2.5 X-Force exhaust or single 2.5 inch will do the job

192.9rwhp is what the single 3" gives you. Twin 2 1/2" is bigger than single 3".....

Get a stock SS dual 2 1/4" catback system (I got one for free so I only had to pay fitment) and then proceed to tell the mrs about the fuel saving benefits of a set of Pacemakers ;) I reckon you can see some noticeable gains in power, economy and sound for under $700

Shame hi-flow cats are so expensive... Does anyone know if they are really worth the dollars on a V6 with this kind of setup??

answerd my own question, and posted in the v6 exaust thread as well

"ive cut the rear muffler of my cat back ss 2 1/4 twin system off vz ss gen 3, and very happy with it
nice note, like a vl rb30, dosnt sonund like a drony v6 at all, or a v8 for that mater, but then it never will with out cams and rockers to lump it up
no drone at all in the cab, and quieter than the single 2 1/2 i was runing (that was real loud)
lost some pep down low, but no worse that the single system, and likes to get up and go over 3500 rpm
well worth the $150 for a full twin system
just a note, my car is the 05 vz 175 alloy tec (only the 2 cats), so sv6, 4cat alloytecs and ecotecs are anyones gess as to how they will go with a ss system of a vz"

so ss system is the way to go or what? everyone has there own ideas about whats best but surely one is better than the others. what i can gather from reading all this is that you need a certain amount of back pressure as the engine already breaths pretty freely. the 175 has 2 cats and that you need to cut the exhaust out. is it legal and what oncecut the exhaust out obviosly need to weld some stright pipe in or...
