Hey Guys, I just bought a second-hand 2004 VZ Commodore Executive and I've noticed a couple of things. Firstly, the fuel gauge read 33L/100kmh. Is this high? I drive the thing like a grandma (second car I've ever owned and it's precious), and the fuel guage tends to go up and down between 1/2 and 1/4 a lot. I've put $20, $30 and another $20 (sorry, didn't take into account how many litres, but petrol was on an expensive day) of fuel in there and I got it 4 days ago. My work is 15 minutes from home and the longest drive I've had is getting the car home. I had the fanbelt replaced on it already. Engine's nice and quiet. The car also had a wheel alignment done, but still pulls to the left on most roads? Any ideas? Is it just the tyres gripping the road and I'm just too use to standard tyres?
check a wheel alignment on the highway where its flat and straight so you know if its just the angle of the road and/or "tracking" of the tyres other problem sounds like the sender card its loose on the fuel pump assembly tank out to check/replace and in this model will eventually come up with contact dealer (from memory) and gauge wont work at all...
Ah okay. Might contact the service centre and get it fixed under warranty. The tyres pull on most roads, but most roads curve toward the gutter anyway. The roads it doesn't on seem quite flat. Guess it's just getting used to it.
yeah if it doesnt seem to pull on a flat road it may have a front wheel caster issue as it would pull more on a cambered road if front caster was incorrect (had a drifter do that as we had even caster when we drove on angled roads it would want to dart downhill if you let go and it had like 10 wheel alignments done)
Ah. I see. It's not jerking to the left, but definitely veers toward the gutter when you let go of the wheel.
my vt does that and its had all the bushes replaced and adjusted on the highway (in brisbane still a little bit cambered highway) it really really slowly goes left at 100 and isnt wearing tyres out... but theoretically you could get it perfect to a thousandth of a degree wheel alignment (lol i wish) but fact is if it isnt dangerous and isnt wearing tyres who cares?
Lol. I'm probably just bein' a fusspot because I just bought it. Lol. Biggest investment at 22 years. ;D
