Just replaced the ignition barrel at my local locksmith and still having issues on the start up. As if it’s got a flat battery, the fellow doing the ignition suggested getting the sensor that the barrel goes into on the other side of the barrel. So I that sensor in my hand about to undo that small star drive screw and thought I might double check if anyone else has done this and any trick in doing it.

Cheers brothers

1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

Also remove the contact ring that connects to the key when it goes in.

Clean it out. (I used contact cleaner) Make sure it is springy and not jammed.

*Theres no actual sensor. It’s a basic switch which is the same from VN-VZ.

Immobiliser, that is controlled by the PIM which is located up under the instrument cluster.

You used a pick to let the barrel back into it like the video shows?

Have the key in the barrel, turn the key after partly inserting it, it will just slot in when the locking mechanism is released.

Hi Fu Manchu, just about to replace the ignition switch. Do I need to pull out the key barrel first or can you just go ahead and replace the ignition switch?
