VY berlina international LS1 wagon
firstly heres abit of background info on the situation.
ive got a manual vy ss diff in an auto ls1 wagon at the moment, ratio 3.46 but its had a bad whine ever since installed and seems to be getting worse so i want it replaced asap.

ive also got a vz clubsport diff 3.46 aswell from a mate cheap but the 3 bolt ls2 pinion yoke to the tailshaft is bigger on the vz hsv. now i know a sedan manual shaft will be different thats why i didnt get that off the same mate i got the diff off but i can get hold of a whole maloo auto shaft then will this fit under and to the box, mine being a 4l60e and hsv 4l65e, or will changes have to be made anyway.

otherwise i go with plan A and just get the pinion yoke on the diff changed over to the smaller 3 bolt flange to fit the tailshaft thats on now
but the crusher bearings etc.. will need to be replaced and pressure reloaded on the diff or whatever they do.

cheers any help or info thanks

How did you get on with this?

It is possible to change the flange over without setting up the crush on the pinion again. The same process is used when changing the pinion seal - basically torquing pinion nut up to exactly the same position as previously (marked prior to disassembly obviously).

If you've done the job and still have the VZ LS2 flange I'd be interested in buying it off you - I'm chasing one of these. Shoot me a PM if we can work something out.
