Tried hooking this onto an old thread but no luck so thought I would start a new thread.

The thermo fan on the passenger side of radiator never works.
I have run straight power and it works, so fan is not the problem.
I have looked at a lot of threads/replies about this issue and the only one that seems to make sense is the computer needs to be reset (old thread from madnuts) but not keen on giving Holden dealer open slather on that, so I have mailed them with the question and cost request.
The reason I would like the 2 fans to run(drivers runs with air con all the time) is both our VZ's blew the radiator a few months ago and both on the passenger side, so running both fans would have to be good for the radiator.
I am also thinking I may be able to splice the passenger wiring into the drivers wiring and run the 2 that way although I don't know if it will be too much draw for the 30 amp fuse.

Thoughts please.

Interesting question, I would also like both fans to come on at once as well. I suppose it could be done with another relay, but splicing it in would seem like a good move. Just wonder if it would play up with anything as the ECU or BCM might see it as powered up, when it isn't meant to be?

I will be watching this thread!

Here is the info on the thermo fans from the manual, if anyone can come up with a feasible way of them both coming on at the same time with no consequences with the ecu it would be good for all VZ owners.

Strange. My engine cooling fan turns on @108 c instead of 104c as mentioned here above in the pdf. Conflicting information. One document from internet for GM says 108c for stage one.

I am thinking there is a bit of an issue with the big current draw on these older fans and the drag they make on the circuit.

My VZ cross8 was working fine, then last November we went to Rockhampton (12 hour trip) and along the way the A/c fan stopped working. was not noticeable until you came to a dead stop and the a/c would get warm. had a quick look and decided to fix it when we got home. Three weeks later when we got home the main fan had also blown the fuses... No biggy as it is my secondary vehicle. Over the christmas break i decided to look at it all...both fans are dead short circuiting. Almost impossible to get replacement ones around here.
looked at options and decided because this ute gets used for long distance travel to get a three core radiator and fan setup off a mob down south. hopefully i can just plug it in and away I go for another 15 years...

I think the age of the fans and the work they do, and I believe they are high amp draw (400+ watts?) it puts a strain on everything in-line. Fans and radiator have come a way since the early 2000's in blade design alone, not to mention GM was real cheapskates with the cooling system and yes there are improvements to be made.

Ok have the new 52mm/triple core radiator, 30 row transcooler and new fans installed..... I have successfully wired one of the fans up through the Air conditioning as per standard. My question is ïs the other fan negatively switched like older pre-ecu cars?
I've discovered one of the wires (striped) is constant 12v key off/key on is irrelevant, which leads me to be 95% sure it's then switch through the other wire (negative?)... can anyone confirm or deny this for me please? VZ LS1 Cross8
