VZ power window regulator assembly ( Rivets )

Ok some genius decided to rivet this in ...

My window holder ( metal plastic assembly that connects to the glass ) broke , :hmmm:

Anyhow , I have pulled the old assembly out ready for the rubbish bin , I have ordered a replacement ...

Q) Question !

What rivets to put the new assembly in .. ( Bunnings ? / Holden ? ) Any old rivet that fits good enough ?

They are rivited from the factory, well my VR and VT were so assuming VZ the same
For the replacement I used some bolts I had laying around the shed, 4mm I think they are. You might need to make sure you scratch the paint off under the bolt or nut and washer (depending which way you fit them) where the electric motor bolts to the door as the bracket is used as the earth for the motor, no earthing no working.

The holes are 5mm , that rivet looks like the 4.8mm Large rivet sold on Ebay ...
I will go see what bunnings has in the way of a 5mm rivet ...

Ok , Bunnings rivets were fine ..

Earthing the assembly is a non issue , worked fine out of the door .. ( 05 VZ )

I always thought the correct idea was to replace the rivets with nylock nuts, window motor assembly in my car rattles like crazy

Was your new reg a genuine or aftermarket? Mine was an aftermarket which might make all the difference...interesting though

Genuine , pulled from a Wreck I would assume ( Ebay purchase )
