Ok i have looked and i have serched already when so when check powertrain/saftey mode/reduced performance on dash what does the car shut down and in what order to save itself. Eg air con, i have seen a dash drop out one gauge at a time starting with the fuel tank i think it was. i have been in a car when it happens and should have taken more notice. Anyone

I'd say it'd do what ever it can to save itself. Reduce RPM limit, reduce timing, increase fuel depending on what the issue is.

My car had a "Check Powertrain" light and it drove perfectly fine with absolutely no problems. The oil pressure sensor was broken, so that car didn't know what the oil pressure was. Because I knew the oil pressure had never been a problem I drove it to get the sensor fixed and it was fine afterwards.
