hi guys,
i'm new to this & just wondring if ya can help me out with some advice on an exhaust system.. i was leaning towards a VY-VZ ss exhaust system because of the dual tips and because apparently they don't make the car much louder... mrs will have a cry if its too loud!

thanks

Changing the exhaust tip won't make any difference to the performance or noise from exhaust. Suggest you go to an exhaust specialist for a definitive answer.

thanks for your advice benboy,
do you know if the exhaust tip is the only difference between the sv6 & ss systems?

okay when you use an LS1 exhaust its dual pipe down to the end, similar to that pic whereas the current V6 exhaust merges in before the last muffler from memory. I dont know if you can use the 6 litre exhaust, Ive only ever seen the 5.7 LS1 exhausts fitted.

Overall on full open throttle it growls a bit, say off a set of lights, but after that it goes quiet.

At our skidpan day last week we had 2 cars with this modification and when thrashing them on the pan they sounded awesome inside the car, but quiet as for the spectators.

Overall Im happy with it, and as far as I know you cantget done by EPA or anything for having it as it is still a standard exhaust, with HOLDEN imprinted on it!

You will need to make and weld a new bracket to the chassis of the car though to hang the new second muffler from

Hi DaneSV6 ,I picked a genuine SS exhaust up off ebay for $50. It is as the guys have said a twin 2.25 inch system right through to the tips. I fitted it to my VZ calais , it fitted up perfectly as all the brackets are already there, all you need is two gaskets for the joints after the cats. It does sound a bit louder , and does growl abit when you give it to it , but it does not sound raspy or farty. As far as performance goes it feels more responsive down low and definately has a bit more go up high. I also did the two hole mod and the economy seems to have improved also . For $50 I am really happy with it and i think you would be too.

sorry forgot, yeh on Calais and SV6 the second brackets there as the 190Kw varients have the same exhaust, only the SS is bigger.

On 175kw varients like executive or my acclaim you need to make a second bracket as ours is single pipe most way through.
