hi my engine ticks on the drivers side near the rocker cover it started happening after i got a service so i took it back and got them to check the spark plugs were seated and tight and same with the coil packs they were so he put in some nulon lifter free because when they dumped the oil it could of left some residue on the lifter hence "sticky lifter".It can also be caused by thin oil maybe you need it changed??

check oil level is on full mark
replace oil if old with a qaulity oil
if you hold the revs up for like 30 seconds say 200 rpm if its a sticky lifter it might get rid of it
check leads seated as stated on coils and plugs
else might need new lifters or other internal engine components like excessive bore clearance (worst case scenario but)

i ran an oil flush through it and changed the oil with a fully synthetic, but the noise is still there, its not as bad and is only there when the engine warms up....

noise only when hot? yes
affected by change of oil? yes
sounds like an internal fault maybee lifter/s

just a little one check your spark plug leads arent loose (as i cant hear noise you may be mistaken on where)

get a long piece of metal (big screwdriver) put ear on one end other on motor
and see if the noise is louder near front or left or right etc
just move driver around until the noise gets louder

i thought it might be the leads as they were pretty well stuffed but still does it after i put a new set on. are lifters had to change on these motors?

requires removal of heads
all new gaskets blah blah blah

might be worth checking if its louder on one side with screwdriver trick to check if exhaust is leaking at head (gasket on these?)
this would resemble a ticking or putting noise and get worse when hot
