Havent had any hits or advice from the audio section, has anyone upgraded the headunit or made any mods to the standard audio set up in a SV6. Interested to know what brands will retain steering wheel controls, and what extent or costs it will take to improve sound. Have a 12" JL sub from my old VR that I'm desperate to install. Any advice will be great, Thanks.
There are no brands available that will incorporate the steering wheel controls. You have to buy an after market unit that is sold at Autobarn which utilises the infra red control onf and aftermarket stereo to control the radio.
Search the forums for it, a man in Sydney created a full setup that will give you an RCA output. Or, simply PM Phreddy
Hey guys. i have had installed into my VZ clubsport, an Alpine unit that links with my iPod via a fire wire cable in the glove box. The wheel controls are retained via some infrared thingy that cost $200. There is a problem however (I only found this a few days after installation)..... Some of the stuff you can access on the dash board computer on start up (like headlights off delay, accessory off mode etc etc) have gone. I am not sure whether this is a consequence of the loss of connection between the Blaupunkt head unit that was in the car, and the dash computer, or whether a wire somewhere has been knocked off. But the stereo rocks.
toddsta, someone was asking about this same problem in the VY section, so I went and had a look at mine (VY with a pioneer head unit etc) and found something interesting, all my options menu are still there and all work fine, but I where they used to scroll through on an instant press of the menu button, I have to hold the menu button in for a couple of seconds and it changes on the release of the button, weird eh!, but everything is still there and works. If this works can you let me know as I am curious if yours is like that now also.
i have seen before (works for pioneer remotes the small ones ) you can wire the remote into the wheel to make the butons work takes some time but it can be done.
I have VZ S ute and had a pioneer headunit install, but now i have lost most of my options menu. the menu is the one when you start the car and push the arrows. has anyone else had this problem. things missing headlights off delay, h/l appoarch time, auto h/l sensitivity, courtesy lamp timeout, ingition off courtesy lamp, intermittent wiper speed, two stage unlock, door lock indication and last one accessory control. they are all the one i dont see anymore, so this thread is for people who have had aftermarket headunit installed. what type and does your options menu have every thing still there. thanks for any help
I think its safe to say I'm going from single disc Blaupunkt to 6 stacker Blaupunkt from another car :w00t: lets see how many problems I can create ... :bang: Seriously though its interesting to note the issues with missing computer modes/options when people have changed units
deck change i have just changed my standard blaukpunt deck for a mp3 single din blaukpunt deck, uses same connectors so was easy to install and i had to but a $50 breakout box and all steering wheel controls work fine no problem with options at all
When I had mt DEH P1Y headunit installed, I was told that there is a steering wheel adapter unit...but it costs something in the area of $250 retail...so if you have the cash then you can buy that and get in installed. Cheers, Kilmo
I have a VZ SV6 and replaced my H/U with a Clarion single DIN Deck...and same functions listed below are also missing! how do i get them back? does anyone know?
Has anyone with the missing menu problem tried what I wrote in my post above?, as I thought the same until I realised I had to hold the menu button in for a couple of seconds each time and then it changed on the release of the button, I have since showed this to my sisters boyfriend in his who was having the same problem, but that was what it was for him also. If anyone does this and it works can you let me know, other wise I will stop suggesting it. Cheers
that how a Vy might work but we are having problems with VZ, my ute has being to holden and autobarn five between and no one know anything. autobarn get my ute on the 23th this month to try wire by wire to see which one makes you lose the menu :bop:
Apparently this works Hi all, i saw somewhere else that someone said that before you start your install go to menu and turn off stereo display. Apparently that worked. They kept all their settings except the stereo ones. I havent changed my H/U yet but i'll give it a go when i do and post the verdict. 05 SV6
There is some added pluging in thing that the guys that do my sound are going to put into my VZ Crewman which allows the steering wheel buttons to work with new head units. Cause i am looking at the DVD head units with intergrated nav.... prob not pay the extra for the nav and the end of the day and just go get a garmin.
I got the auto-lec to install an aftermarket stereo and rear speakers in my SV6 and now I don't have any sound from my front door speakers. Tries telling me that they were never connected!! The rear door speakers still work. Why has this happened and how do I fix it?
he ***'d it up badly, how can he say they didnt work, it would be the most obvious ones that you'd hear, he's either connected the fronts from the head unit to the rear doors or the parcel shelf, take it back and tell him to fix it, that's what you paid him for
