I had this noise coming from my drivers side front wheel area which I traced to a worn stabiliser link connecting to the sway bar.
Although this car has only done 51,000 kms the rubber had perished allowing water and dirt to get inside the ball joint.
Now here is the tricky part, there is a left hand and right hand side part which i will give you the part numbers, but be very careful buying other brands on Ebay as they might not fit.
Autobarn has them as Protex LP7962 (RHS) for $37 and Supercheap has them as a special order for $52., the (LHS) part no is LP7963 same price.
I have just fitted the Protex brand and it is identical to the OE part I replaced, and fixed the problem immediately.
Hope this helps someone.
