Vz sv6 Ute timing chain/issues.

Hey guys I’m looking at buying a mates 2005 vz sv6 Ute with 180,000 kms.

I have heard timing chains are a common issue with these engines, roughly how many kms do u reckon I’ll have left in this one and also are there any other common issues I should look out for in this model.

Some failed at 80. Mine are a little noisy at 270. It's honestly really hard to put a milage on them.

It'll be due for rocker cover seals , tube seals , coils and plugs by now. Pump may be getting close may go a little longer before get fuel gauge issues.

I just bought a VZ with 215,000km that was leaking quite a bit of oil from the timing cover seal. As the cover has to come off to replace the seal and was unsure of the age / condition of the chain, just decided to throw a new chain at it. This guy here will do a new chain for $1,200 - very happy with his work:
