From what I have heard a system from a V8 will bolt on with only small modifaction.

You can get a 3000k old stainless steel SS system for $40 off EBAY.

This is the way I will be going.

What's involved in the "small modification" when you want to use a V8 system?

There is no modification when using a V8 system. It bolts straight up.

There aren't many systems out there that actually sound good on a VZ V6. If you go to enough exhaust shops, you may find one that has been taken off for free. I throw them away when I do a new system, even new OEM ones, worth nothing over here.

I do a sedan system that can be modified for the ute, it's a twin 2 1/4" into single 3". Sounds nice and deep, no drone and none of that horrible raspiness that alloytechs are renowned for. This system is $495 shipped but does need to be lengthened by about 120mm in front of the front mufflers.

Are the wagon ones the same as the ute?

Yes, slight difference in the angle of the tips but they go on.

Has anyone tried the Genie800 type extractors/headers on a VZ ute? are they shorter than the pacemakers so they bolt straight onto the cats? I think if you go with pacemakers the cats need to be moved to under the car as opposed to sitting higher up. Just trying to get something that requires minimal modification.

Cheers
