in the next week or so ill be pulling off my vz v6 TB and will be putting a few ideas to work.

i wish to try to bore/hone it out and fit a bigger butterfly (also do the same with the manifold)
or if that fails i will attempt to make a custom made one with a old/damaged TB and some materials.

any tips or advice or anything anyone wishes to advise?

if sucsesfull may even consider making a few extra that ill sell.

ill update with photos and info if goes to plan

Yeah I'm sure I read some polished it, and it didn't work, it just ended up getting error warnings on the dash...

yeah after i knife edged the butterfly it came up with powertrain error but it was because of one of the following what i did:
    1. opened the sealed unit to have a look and to hold butterfly open.
    2. mightve removed throttle wire while key was turned on notch

it does go away after a few drives unless you really did stuff something.

impulsesv6 'bored' one out, i trialled it on my car and it made some minor differences with a modified manifold, dont think it would do much on a standard manifold.. if your interested in having yours done pm me and ill see if i can help you out

    just messaged you mate.

sence there has been alot of action with modified tb's what about any custom made ones?

my idea is to make it out of mild steel at this point so i can do it all myself to trial it and then go alluminium.
and as for the electronics id get a doner and chop the pipe section off and mount the rest onto the new bigger pipe section.

    ideas?

Unless you have done a tune, exhaust, cams, intake, manifold, port and polish. There is no way boring your TB will do anything.

The restriction from the TB will be next to nothing.

ok thanks for that guys, yeah i have a good few mods and im leaving a tune for when i have done everything so i dont have to keep getting one after each mod.

think i may just have to settle with what i have in the tb section if there is only very little gains.

my diff gears should be ariving soon anyway so ill have something to do :)

i dont think there is much else to add to this thread but i appriciate the info and imput.

    thread close.

A mate of mine from work hat a cagiva raptor 1000. He put new pistons in, higher compression, and cams. Power was up from 110hp to 160hp.

At that rate, his standard intake box was becoming restrictive, he gained 20hp from drilling more holes in his intake box.

My dad has a cagiva xtra raptor 1000, same engine, but if he drilled the same holes, it would do almost nothing, because the intake is sufficient for the airflow from the standard engine. Same with the TB, unless you are generating more flow than standard, there is no point changing the TB. Besides, there is more of a restriction from the intake tube than the TB. Take away the biggest restriction first, standard filter, intake box, exhaust, intake manifold, cams. Then, maybe TB.

i am in the process of boring out 72 and 74mm tb's atm and will be doing a before and after power run on my car, it is supercharged so the power gain might not be the same for n/a cars but i have a friend lined up to do a power run on a standard motor and see what gains are achived (if any)

If its supercharged, you will either notice no difference, or your feeling a placebo because of all the time you spent on that tb for nothing.

And if its factory supercharged, have you put on an overdrive pully? Cause that makes far more sense than making useless mods that might in theory give 0.5% more power.

CRUSTIN this Thread was started for vz throttlebody's if you dont like the idea of them then why are you reading about it?? no my cars not factory supercharged because they dont make a factory supercharged vz, and they dont make an overdrive pully for vz's eather (for obvious reasons) there is not much more i can do performance wise and the most restrictive part of a vz's intake system (well one wich has an aftermarket intake) is the throttlebody and inlet to the manifold.
my opinion is dont comment on things you have no idea about, go back to the ecotec forums

Thought I might point out there is an underdriven pully for the VZ.

also, ease up. ####. No need to go off the deep end for a small mistake.
