I’m sorry but I can’t go on any further. It only depresses me as I realise how inadequate I am when it comes to these fangle dangle cars:(

I’d get the cheap one because both water pumps I replaced on the two cars to do this walkthrough lasted two years. Gates are just as junk as the cheap eBay ones.

The coolant sensor, spend the money on the genuine Bosch one.

might just add to this awesome post by fu manchu
if you find coolant at the back of the engine and suspect the thermostat housing
be aware the filler neck o-rings can leak, travel along under the manifold and leak out the back
so if you see any signs up front, change filler neck o-rings first, then reassess the job after a while

Bloody hell. That’s great advice.
Listen up on that one folks. Of all the things on a Commodre that suck, the two that suck the most are the thermostat housing and HVAC out for AC repairs. I’d rather offer free fellatio to the old hag down the road from my mates house than do those two jobs.

Hey @Fu Manchu Just thought I would ask here considering it's cooling related.

I will be replacing my overflow reservoir this afternoon, my old one has split somewhere and is seeping out causing my car to up its temos over half. I will attach pictures.

Is it possible to just remove the reservoir without dropping the coolant and just transfer that coolant to the new reservoir when installed?

Cheers.

Yes but pinch off the hose. Fold it and cable tie it. That will be fine.
