I don’t think you read the thread, gist is 2300 with bigger injectors stock fuel pump falls short of safe fuel supply to achieve near Walkinshaw’s advertised state of tune (power).
The gaggle of third party components to achieve the state of tune amounts to a time bomb, a joke to one skilled in safe engine upgrades for this car. But why would a customer look at the detailed energy equation when their arse is covered by a premium paid for full warranty. And the Brand reassurance.
Any case, this is a major failure not to be expected, covered specifically under consumer law.
Once you go making high HP engines Warranty will have small print for sure.

Anyone can destroy a good high performance engine in no time flat, fools that do not understand what the engine truly is will always destroy it.

In racing, drivers are informed don't do this or that and if you do, you get the arse directly, remember P Brock f ing people off, for not adhering to such advise.
Remember all the blow engines at Bathurst, it's the drivers fault a lot of the time.

You have the wrong idea about the engine, the marvellously over hyped brand owning company and it’s upgrade solutions. It is a warranted upgrade offered to the public, engineered roadworthy for use on public roads, not advertised as a fragile race machine in the edge of blowing up with critical specific do’s and don’ts to cover for the dangerous offering in the first place.
Those fly-by-night disclaimers don’t hold water under the Australian Consumer Law. This is not open class club sport with home made go-fast bits that may or may not blow up and kill you, this is a hundred million dollar corporation with responsibilities under the act, and has clearly made an engineering mistake with the offering.
I also believe there is a civil matter to be heard relating to false advertising of performance, safety, and the exorbitant charge for fully warranted and supposedly highly engineered solutions when in practice there are insufficient safeguards in place to satisfy expectations of reasonable use. Oh and selling consumer rights, already covered under law, commercially as part of its proprietary warranty offering.
@Zeke we are lucky this isn’t the good old days, we now have laws to ensure a company making false claims for piss-poor overpriced dangerous upgrades under some immaculate product assurance will at least pay to rectify such faults.

Faulty piston ? no ?
Prove you did not use 98 octane ? if they deem it bad fuel your off to the fuel company to deal with, because if Walkinshaw's can prove all is fine with their work, ACL can do nothing at all about it.
If you even take your stock V6 Commodore out on the race track your warranty is void regardless.

Turn up with a new car to any dealer that requires the car to run on 95 or more and they deem you have been using lower than the specified grade you gone and ACL can't do a thing about it at all. dealerships can prove such things have been pinging and if you hear such or any other noise or lack of performance you should take it up with the dealership asp, you can not just drive around regardless, I am sure it's in the small print.

A mate bought a new diesel 4x4 took it in for the first service and said the air con she don't work to well, so they seen to that and as he was toddling back home she seen that the temp gauge was right up, stoped directly rang them and they said drive it back, he knows engines as he owns around 50 trucks etc, they test drove it and blew the engine up, oh we don't have any of them engines in Australia they said, but we will reco it for you, f off mate said give me a new 4x4, no they said, but they did a good deal on a new one, maybe it was because a bull had a go at the tail gate, and this happened on the first day he got it home.
He also had a new 4x4 with a hell of a noisy diff whine from new, the buggers would not come at it on warranty un less it was broken.

Another I know had a Ferrari and he said it had a bad vibration but the buggers would not come at it at all unless it was broken, so he did burnouts out front his place every time he took off first thing in the morning cold and flat to the floor, you should of seen the marks it was a work of art. he got rid of it and bought a Lamborghini.
Such people are business people with money to take on the system, not just some punk and they had no hope.

Maybe so in the "good ol' days" Zeke, but the ACCC is cracking down on new car dealers now.....they will have to change their ways.

Hit up their website for further info.

Your mates were likely ill informed.

@Zeke there is no physical way this engine could produce that power safely with 98. It went lean not for lack of octane but fuel (energy) supply.
In this regard it wouldn’t matter if it were C16 or e100, leaning out fuel pressure unexpectedly at high rpm will melt stuff.
Proper practice is on 91 the knock count would cause a default to low octane and basically limp parameters if deemed the engine can’t function.
Either way is not an octane issue.
