Supercharged VF SSV
Hi,

I recently melted the L77 in my VF SSV, it has a walkinshaw 457 kit on it and #5 went lean, melted the piston, snapped a bit of the ring off and that was bouncing around in the chamber so the head is stuffed now too.

I think I have about 3 options here:

- best and most boring case I get the engine out, new piston and ring (hopefully within tolerance still) and new head and I'm on my way

- second is new crate motor, cam and slap all my go fast bits on it

- third is get it out, stroke it, and put my go fast bits on it.

Obviously money is the issue here, I'm thinking about 7-10k as a budget. I'm in SA so if anyone has any ideas out here I'd like to know.

Thanks in advanced.

Hi Lsute,

WOW what an opportunity.

I would go through some of what Monstar and others have posted and make the best, strongest engine you can.

Good luck.

Being Walkinshaw, they offer factory warranty with their performance upgrades. Are you still under new car warranty (My E3 still is till May next year).

Good luck

Why wouldn’t you claim it under warranty through Walkinshaw?

Yep think this would be covered.

I doubt it would be a 1 piston head change option, do it properly might be other issues on crank etc to check if it's had a cylinder go is pinging

How long is the warranty through Walkinshaw? They said they might cover parts depending on whether or not the fault was "mechanical". Haven't figured out the dir ct cause yet but leaning towards an injector.

Buy an LS1 for under $1k and get a 427 stroker kit. Big cubes of fun for minimal money!
