I know of 3 Sydney dealers as of Jan 1 2018 will no longer be Holden Dealers and one of those is where I purchased my MSE. If each dealer is getting 14 sets of rocker arms, where do customers like myself who purchased LS3 equipped vehicles fit in. I know for this issue I can go to any remaining Holden dealers but I suspect as I my vehicle is not an emergency vehicle and I am not an existing customer I will be on the low priority list.

Out of interest which dealerships are you talking about?

I moved from Sydney to the Central Coast about 5 years ago and I must say I've never suffered service wise by going to dealerships where I didn't purchase the cars, in fact they have all opened their arms to me as they make their money out of service included recalls and if they get me to stay I might even buy a car from them which I have.

Take it to Pennant Hills Holden when you get your notice.

14 sets of rockers per dealer initially if that's correct is not going to last long in any of the big city dealerships.

Your biggest worry will be who is going to be doing the work on your expensive car because I would not want an apprentice with minimal experience in engine work practicing on my engine for this type of repair.

Metro Holden in Adelaide lose their franchise Dec 31. Odd as they are/were one of the biggest dealers in the country. Anyhow, they had the contract with the SA Govt. for servicing police cars. Always saw them there. I don't think 14 sets will go far. Anyhow, let the new apprentice practice on them first. As I have an LSA I don't think I will be getting a letter.

Apologies for using the word "thrashing"... I didn't mean to use that word in a bad way to either you or how you drive your car. I meant to say, driving the car to its potential. I pushed my car to its potential, and so do a lot of people with V8s on this forum. Apologies again.

No letter yet, but spoke to my dealer and they did their first car yesterday. They were only given one set to start with.

Mine and one other have been put on the priority list when the rocker arms come in as they know mine isn't being driven until it is fixed. Was told I 'might' get a phone call tomorrow.

I told him as soon as I get the call I will go home and get it and bring it down and wait for it to be done.

My letter arrived yesterday and is slightly different to the one posted as it does not mention an actual dealer. The dealer I purchased my MSE is no longer a holden dealer from Jan 1.
To answer an earlier question, the two dealers that I am certain in Sydney that will no longer be Holden dealers are Suttons Homebush (where I bought my MSE) and will now be a Nissan dealer, Suttons Waitara (closing down). There is another dealer which I was not able to confirm before this post and subsequently have not directly listed them here. If I confirm them I will post these details later.
I found it interesting that the salesman who sold my MSE to me once told me that by mid June this year, customers looking for Holdens of any sort were averaging one or two on the weekend and rarely any during the week. He explained it to me like this that as the sales of Holdens dried up, the dealership had to look at another manufacturer or close the whole dealership down so they went to Nissan which I thought was an interesting choice.

    Got my letter yesterday.
Rang dealer just now to book it in and was told that I need to wait for another letter to arrive advising that the dealership has the parts and then can book it in to be fixed

I still haven't received the letter, but spoke to my dealer yesterday and he is checking daily to see when the stock is going to be in. As soon as it arrives he has me and another guy in as priorities to be done first as he knows I am not driving mine until it is done. :(

absoutely devvo! anyone know how long the dealer will have the car? Is it going to stigmatize the model like the piston slapper VU VT early LS1's?

Also advice on best dealer in Perth to use? thanks guys

Rockers are a couple of hours work tops. There's not much in them.

Stock is limited so if you don't have a) an emergency vehicle, b) a sold but yet to be delivered vehicle or c) a failure, some people are going to have to wait until Jan.

called the dealer and they were like..... "oh yeah, we'll text you when parts arrive. keep driving it. if it blows we will tow it. if it hasn't failed yet then it probably won't. "
seems odd they will recall thousands of engines that are unlikely to fail

Hi all, this is my first post. Recently bought my first V8, and new to Commodores. Previously had several enthusiast cars.

Why is this not considered a recall? If it’s serious enough not to deliver new cars until fixed then surely it’s a safety related issue that requires a recall? What if one of my rockers explodes and foul all the others in the bank causing a cut out in traffic?

I doubt it, the LS3 has been used for 2 years in VF2 guise this is only a 3 month or so bracket. It's a fix of, not necessarily a failure on all engines
