Is it just a case of removing the rocker cover and swapping out old rocker arms for new? I.e. No adjusting or checking valve clearances? This procedure won't affect other things like timing?

Hoping the procedure is idiot proof.

Yep my letter came yesterday. My version had no mention of a free service though. Rang to book it in and the service advisor said no worries we’ll do it at the 9 month 15000 service.

So I said no way not this type of work. Anyway can’t get it booked in till parts arrive. Looks like a quiet Christmas / New Year for the Redline.

Your car may be built on the 11/7 but the LS3 V8 may have been built earlier, meaning you may not get the recall letter. You will find out sooner than later.

Ok, good to know. But I guess Holden are just sending letters to affected customers, how long do I wait for a letter to come or not to come before driving it??

Speak to your dealer SS Steve, I haven't received my letter yet, but my dealer knows I am not driving it (well sometimes I cant help myself) and has me on the priority list to be done as soon as parts are available along with one other owner.

Ok, it's official...I got the letter :(
I'd like to here how others go with the process of getting this fixed. I don't like the idea of my engine being cracked open...this may introduce other issues?!?
Thank you @GMVPSS and this forum for bringing it to our attention.

I wouldn't call this process cracking the engine open. It would only introduce other issues if they don't do it right.

Just at the dealer organising replacements. They have 15 sets ordered so far.....

I asked if they knew of any broken ones? They told me a SOAG MSE had failed just as it left the dealership on delivery day.....

It's only the rocker covers that have to come off so it's really not major surgery.

I have no doubt though that the thought of opening up a brand new engine must be :( I try not to work on any car I buy for the same reason, generally that thought lasts a couple of weeks before I get stuck into something....

As mentioned by others, have a chat with the service manager about your concerns.

Does anyone yet had a solid date for repair? I still can’t get any word from the dealer as to when the parts will be in, anyone have any idea?

The replacement 'kits' were due to arrive at Holden's spare parts distribution center today, maybe some people will be lucky enough to have it sorted by the end of the week.

Most of us will be post Christmas/New Year.....

You're welcome mate. Even if I didn't own one of these that need replacement I would have still posted about it.

Rocker covers off and rocker arms being replaced isn't a big deal if it is done properly. (I have the rocker covers off after every run on the drag car checking spring seat pressure and replacing valve springs if required.)

I have been thinking about taking my valve train high pressure grease in to give them when they do mine, as I would hate to think they would fit them dry? Fingers crossed the work instruction tells them how to do it properly!

I'd actually prefer to be given the parts and fit them myself but we know they're not going to do that! so I have to trust them to do it in order to maintain the warranty.

Need a dislike button for that. :(

I hope they got it sorted for you and its back on the road?

Mine has done 300km. I have owned it for almost a month and have barely driven it since finding out about the issue 4 days after picking it up. I cant help myself and am driving it a bit now as I need to put some fuel through it before it goes in to get heads and cam!

Bummer! Have they sorted it out yet?
When I talked to the service manager I told him I wanted to do some miles over Christmas.
He asked how many kilometres are on the Magnum?
Told him 3,900k's. He smiled, and said "There are plenty of dealerships between here and Lakes Entrance"!

I also told him to send me the kit, and I'll do it myself....

I just got some news that parts have come in for my customer's sold Redline. It will be repaired today/tomorrow and will be ready for delivery tomorrow afternoon, hopefully. I will confirm tomorrow what has been done and when it will go out.

My Director is back on the road. Took them a week. Had to find good old stock to put back in it.

Funny comment! It was only the outer castings that were affected but they all went in the parts bin so no way of checking them.

Director only has 230km on it.
