Any idea why they caught fire?

Yeah, lets all step back and look for a cause rather than deem a product completely unusable and faulty without evidence.

aZk.

Cammed mafless VS Calais 5-speed.
You probably got a faulty product. If the core was fractured it could have caused internal arching and as the plastic melted, propagated the flame. Unlucky mate.

vs ute
seen things like this happen before, people blaming/tarnising business's and or products only to find out it was the fault of there own hands.
people buying wrong oil filters and then having them pop off down the road then blaming the manufacturer.
chances are the leads wernt on right and poped off, with a descent spark to some oil leaking around your head or something and it wouldnt take much to catch on fire specially with all the heat down there, it has fuel, it has heat and it has ignition, 3 factors for a fire.

are they carbon or copper leads?
be pretty unlucky to get a brand new set of leads with a internal break in them.
