I was just wondering what upgrades (cosmetically) can you do to your car without voiding the warranty?

they cannot void your warranty at all, in most circumstances.

if the modification has compromised the body in any way, they won't cover damage your modification has caused. obviously any aftermarket bits are not covered by the factory warranty at all.

but to suggest that the warranty for any faults with your motor are voided because of mods you've made to the body is ridiculous and anyone who tries to tell you that needs a kick in the arse :)

not true. if you blow your motor holden could say it was due the radiator not getting enough air cause you have put on a bodykit etc. i no nissan did it. they build a crap 4wd and void people warrenty who fit aftermarket bull bars.

but most thing they cant do anything about. ie new wheels, spoiler etc

What about a supercharger on a V6? Could they come up with some bullshit excuse to void my warranty on that?

I know Holden didn't say anything about my lowered Pedders springs or my blue dash conversion. In fact, they spun out at the dash and asked where/how I did it.

These are fairly minor though, a supercharger I would say would definately void your warranty...

good point, you're right but of course there's a specific reason for that. there's no way they could make that argument with a boot spoiler, for example.

in general, they cannot void your warranty. they can deny a specific claim on specific grounds but they can't tell you not to come back, unless you dip the entire car in salt water for a week or something.

erm I beg to differ on boot spolier... what about boot release ???

On the VN we had boot release & it broke, So many people said that due to boot spolier....

Now dont really know if that would be true, however when companies dont want to pay up.... anything is a good excuse....

my spoiler made a mess of the auto-boot button. too heavy and would just close itself again. a couple of times it didnt close properly and damaged the mechanism. cant win!
