To my knowledge I have a M76 5 spd, but as it's still going strong and most people have said they're crap and fail all the time....I'm just wondering if it's actually a M76 or could it be possibly something else?

Here's all the numbers which are on the gearbox:

BORG WARNER: 0507-065900
OTHER DETAILS:
5006-4-C
0507-039900

Can anyone look up those numbers to see what gearbox it is?

Cheers,
Danny

I suspect you can get the odd one of these that can handle a bit of a workout.
As wh M76 is sitting behind a warm efi 202, and gets used for track days etc.
Though now that money has dried up (home loan) i don't do many events anymore.

Thx for the replies guys.

Well to tell ya the truth, it's never been serviced since I had it. I was only just asking my Uncle 2day how to check the oil in it haha.

Wat's involved with a service for them? While it's out sitting on the shed floor (rebuilding my 173) I may as well do it coz it would prolly be easier.

Cheers,
Danny

Theres nothing to service on them, the only thing you can do is change the oil, and that only needs doing every 100 thousond kays. The guys that go on about servicing them obviously have been playing with autos too long. Any manual will last forever if you treat it with abit of respect, Side stepping the clutch is a guaranteed method to kill any box no matter how strong it is,
