water found in sump

2002 Astra convertible has water in the sump could this be just head gasket ?

depends how much water looks to be in there....if its only a very small trace then could possibly be a leaky gasket.

I would say more of a chance of a cracked head/block to be completely honest....those opel engines were famous for it (my old SB combo went through 2 heads in 280,000km before eventually cracking the block)

Thanks mate the sump was full of water with the oil . How do you check for a cracked head ? Car has only done 90000 k

Take it off. It may even only be the head gasket????? 90K is not a lot. Has the motor ever been "cooked"?

Not sure purchased the car not running thats why I got her cheap. Will remove head . Would a compression test prove if its a gasket ?
