I have currently got the slapper build in at the moment that im expecting to die at the 5000K mark based on the cam and piston wear, just to get her through rego, but once its sorted and i do a franken-build ill be putting a nice trutrac in the diff, possibly looking at upgrading the axles, but honestly its not going to be a burnout or drag car, i just want to do the odd big pull here and there that has some serious grunt, and take the partner and the dog around for a sunday or weekend drive.Vn heads will go on if bores are notched for valve clearance but if you're really just trying to get car on the road I'd be doing super cheap tightarse rings & bearing job on 253 slapper BUT also have another one to build on the side over couple of years.
From what I've seen posted on couple of stroker 253 built these days were scat crank,vn rods with chev casties roughly 310 cubes.
One that I do remember was for numbers matching vh sle owner wanted it to still look factory with bit of pep....another was put together by w.a engine builder with vn heads made 350hp plus but was grumpy as expected.
Won't be putting stock or baby cam with 10.1 cr but if put together in low 9's slap stock or baby cam in then.
Roadstar Autoparts sell cheap copy intakes but on my junker 308 chinawinder was bought as 100% knew that would fit under vk commo or torana bonnet.
Block is currently at +40, and i have done a dummy fit on another block to check the valves clear deck with std lift cam and they do by a fair margin so im happy.
I already have the crank that i got for next to nothing as it had a flogged key and snout in the front that i repaired (yay for tradeskills), the rods are easy to come by as we have literally close to hundreds at work that people ditch when they go to stroker combos, and the pistons i want to still be close to factory spec and be as light as possible, while still being all holden.
As mentioned i am an engine machinist by trade so I've been doing the math and gathering options and parts for about 2 years now, and its also a heck of a lot cheaper than paying someone else to build it lol
