Gday gday

Finally got off my ass and put the VT on stands and got under and had a look for anything out the ordinary as shes still making noises since i replaced the blown driveshaft (sounds like a flat tyre inside the car when your driving)... i noticed today when the wheels are turning slowly a squeaking noise comes from the extension housing of the transmission where the tailshaft slides in.. but when the wheels speed up it goes away ive never heard the noise until now when i got under the car..

In the video you can hear some noises when i start the car the noises you hear seem to be coming from the tyres/diff... jeez i hope it hasnt blown another diff!!

Could be any of these possibilities you reckon?

1. Something to do with the brakes, handbrake system.. could a caliper may be loose or could the handbrake shoes some how come off?? could my handbrake shoes be to tight??

2. could of a wheel bearing blown??

3. maybe sold a dodgy driveshaft??

The car has been going quite good until it blew the driveshaft now this noise wont go away... any help is appreciated.

Do your CV bolts up real tight. Get a big wrench on the end of the allen key.

If I rotate my wheels slowly when it's jacked up I get that squeal noise as well. Never thought anything of it.

Took her for a drive today and videoed the noise, sounds fekkin disgusting..

i thought the handbrake pads come off again so i pulled the tyres off, etc and ripped the handbrake shoes off, they were quite worn down for only being a few months old. even with them off though it still makes the noise..

turn ya speakers up and have a listen youll hear it dont worry..

Considering there has been so many views and no much of a reply I will stick my neck out and throw a few ideas out there.

The noise that is in the video does sound very strange. It sounds from the video to be a dragging sort of noise.
Does the noise seem like it is coming more from the tranny end or the diff end?
Is there any difference in the sound from the left rear or right rear?
Have a look at the centre bearing of the tailshaft.

Maybe it might be worthwhile to take the rear tyres and discs off and rotate the axles by hand and see if the noise is still there.
If the noise is still there drop the tailshaft and spin the axles again by hand, if the noise is gone put the discs and tyres back on and check for the noise. This should give you a real good idea on where to closer look.

I would be interested to find out what the noise is coming from.
Best of luck

The boot on the passenger side of the diff looks all distorted, as if the axle isn't mated up to the diff properly.

guys thankyou so much for your 2 cents im really banging my head on a wall here...

The noise seems to be coming from the diff area.. inside the cabin it sounds like its coming from the rear passenger wheel but when your under the car with it on stands and the wheels turning it seems to be just coming from the diff center..

Your correct the driveshaft seems kinked and doesnt look right i thought this may have something to do with it..

Ill jump under it again today and do the things you mentioned, i didnt really think to do that.. give me an hour or so and ill come back with some more info hopefully with a few answers to get this thing fixed..

thankyou so much again

How do the driveshaft CV's feel? They should plunge in and out and rotate very smoothly. I'd unbolt both driveshafts and make sure they're in good condition and then make sure they're installed properly
