it's actually the provider of the service, cost varies.

If your a low yield business you can be slugged a percentage or a flatrate.

If your a high yield business your just charged a license for each machine per quarter and can make as many transactions as you like.

This is just a "wealth re-distribution" tax. Nothing to do with the environment, just political ideology gone mad.

Why levy a carbon tax only to give handouts to various section of society to off-set the increased cost?........Oh that's it, only those who have worked hard and tried to better themselves and not be a burden on the Govt pursue have to pay.

I don't know where you shop girl, but I often buy a couple of pies in my weekly shop (Coles or Foodland) for my lads on the weekends and they are not usually $1.98, be that Villis, Mrs Macs or Balfours. A pie in the supermarket usually retails around $3 mark. Everyone now and then you get specials, but $1.98 regular price? You are dreaming :)

Edit: Did some research, the catalogues just out show Villis pies at $2.29 (20% off) and Balfours also on special for $2.99

I don't think the government even pretends it will anymore. They've completely lost sight of what the entire Carbon thing was intended to be. I've yet to hear exactly where the tax is going to be spent on the environment.

I remember when it was first announced, they openly admitted that there would be a massive hole in the budget without it. So if the tax is going to be spent on the environment, why would there be a big hole in the budget without it ? Shouldn't make any difference to the budget if it wasn't an income

I realise we need to increase taxes somehow to pay off our national debt. But what pisses me off is when they justify what is just another tax, as an environmental tax.... Patronising pricks, it's an insult to our intelligence. Cut the BS and just be honest with us and acknowledge it's just another tax.

It's remarkable that the current PM, who nobody voted for anyway (took the leadership from rudd then hung parlament last election and only got back into power because greens sided with labor) still decided to bring in the carbon tax after promising that she never would. then she tries to suck money out of my state (WA) because of our mining riches and when colin barnett says no, canberra cuts WA's GST revenue which we are fully entitled to receive. this is why we are very anti-labor out west because we're getting ripped off and we seem to have been the only ones to realize this from the start.

smacks of pure money grabbing and nothing more to me, I don't know who is worse though, abbot or gillard. seems the whole country is in the same boat as me or we wouldn't have had a hung parlament last election, a religious nutcase or a greedy self-centered prime minister, take your choice. even if abbot gets into power any tax that brings in money is still revenue so I doubt it liberals will abolish it anyway.

The thing that bugs me is the fact they keep calling it a bloody carbon tax. Do they realise what they are trying to fight anymore (carbon dioxide)

exactly my thoughts. That way, when the opposition gets into power, they just blame the Carbon tax on the previous govt and say it's too late to abolish it.

Remember when Howard brought in the GST... labor was dead against it. Yet once they got into office they said they couldn't remove it because it was already in place and would cost too much money to go back.

they don't really care.... it's just a tax, the name of the tax really has no relevance anymore

Actually no.... all of the coles redeveloped trying to make them look 'local' that had a local produce section (i think there were 10 or 12) got given a special deal with villies on their pies as they order 10x as much of them.

I've never even see a mrs mac's pie in coles before.... coles st agnes only sells balfours, gibs and Villies.

I got a lot of mates all over, asked him tonight if villies have changed their prices and he laughed.

Pretty obvious when they are no longer saying it's climate change related and definitely not a tax.

Well for everyone who works in a manufacturing job that is competing with overseas products (like me) i think we should all start looking for new jobs cause unlike everyone else we cant pass the tax on as we are already too expensive

hope all those people in the unions who voted labour go first... stupid stupid stupid
