Hello hoping your well

I’m looking to purchase a 1999 wh statesman ( owned by an old family friend so it’s been well looked after ) and had a few questions

will be used as a weekender

with the 5.7 engine is there anything specific to look for ?

it has beige leather would that Of be upgraded?

other than common Vt to vx fault should I check anything specific to the statesman?

thanks

If it's owned by a family friend they shouldn't have a problem with you taking to a mechanic for inspection

Service / maintenance records / receipts kept by current owner. I know a lot of owners don't keep records, but I know that I, and a number of forum members do keep stuff like that for our own entertainment and knowledge.
After 21 years the date / distance owners service manual is useless as it would be so out of sync.

One thing to check that a mechanic might not is to take it out on highway make sure the torque converter is locking in
