Hey I'm looking at getting some new chromies on my Clubby and I would like to know if anyone knows what will fit on without scraping the body coz I don't wanna modify my body to fit any rims on... My mate has 22's on his WK Caprice and it looks sick but he had to do some work to his guards coz they scraped when he turned his wheels. I seen a VE SS-V in Perth with 22's on and it was awesome haha but I'm wondering if he needed to modify his body at all to fit them? I'm thinking of keeping my front wheels at 8" wide but not sure about how wide I want my rears yet... any info would be good... cheers :)

At the moment, there is VERY little range in after market rims for E-Seires HSVs simply because most don't fit over the brakes.

You can get 22 inch rims, but you have to go back to narrow rears that match the fronts... Which I see as a backwards step as it lowers the rear grip.

there's a VE SSV here running 22's... personally, while I normally live big rims, I think it looks wrong. Too big, and makes the car look too high. I reckon the 20's suit the clubsport... BUT the optional 20's on the SSV don't look as good as the standard 19's... once again, it's personal taste...

22" will probably look took big... 20" would sit nice a i reckon. And don't get chromies... will ruin a VERY NICE looking car!

Usually im not a fan of the chromed up rims, but it really suited the car for some reason

Dunno - to me it says the owner should be a huge African American with chunky jewelry and gold teeth. Not into the bling thing what so ever..... but most of you should have figured that one by now.

But I agree with Reaper... Commodores should not be blinged (or riced for that matter).

Good point - I'm extremely anti-bling. Chrome works on a 1972 chevy Impala (but not the wheels). That's it. And 22s are just too big to be useful as far as I'm concerned. I'm not one to buy stuff for my car that makes it grip LESS!

22 inch wheels look good ... but ultimately make your VE slower ...

Exactly! No flex in the tyre means that there is massively reduced grip on the road. Same thing happens when your suspension is tuned too hard - just skips sideways. You lose so much lateral grip. You have to find the balance between grip and slip - and it's not a very big line between them at times.

Mate of mine has 22’s on his and they seem to fit no problem, but IMO What ever size you put on it needs to have at least as much adherence as the originals, otherwise it’s a step backwards. I’m all for good looks but it needs to be practical and 550+NM of torque is a lot if your lacking in the handling department.
P.S. off topic a little bit but I saw a Chrysler 300C at a show a few weeks back with 24’s on it. Like to see that drive on NSW public roads for more than 100 meters!

I regularly see a 300C with 24s on it driving around here and it looks like a bucket of ****.

Oh no. The Chrysler would be fine on 24s. They recently relayed a section of old Windsor road. Stretches at least 200m. As long as the live next to maccas, they won't have a problem! Only problem is they only did one side of the road. So gettng home could prove troublesome.

I went to the R8's on my SS I had them re painted and love them, IMO one of the best looking wheel on the market and you want to change them WOW each to their own I guess.

Now just need to save up for my Brembos are you going bigger brakes and disks

Would love to see what you end up putting on.
