Been having some issues with the idle on the 304. Pulled out the IAC to give it a clean and notice that there seemed to be some thing at the base of the spring. I unscrewed the plunger and found this. I realised it's screwed, but has anyone have any idea as to why it looks to be burnt and melted. May be the IAC has just s##t its self. It looks to have been some serious heat.

possible backfire maybe... I trust you've replaced the IAC valve. Once you pull it apart it rarely works properly again. First time, benefit of the doubt, reload and continue firing. ;) (install new one and move on)

I know its screwed Duh. I only realised half an hour ago. Thought some one might know why, that's all.
Don't ever remember a back fire though.
