Planned to change starter motor, put the car on stands to drop the steering rack to make life easier only to discover one of the rack bolts spins and spins without coming out Decided to take manifold out instead and got starter motor out and new one wired up and installed but then discovered I didn't have any gasket goo for the manifold Came back from the shops, installed everything back up and then wondered why the car sounded like a truck and was smoking a little then realised I hadn't tightened the manifold to exhaust pipe flange bolts up tightly

Replaced the intake manifold gaskets on the VX .Prick of a job , some one done a bodge job of it before and it took hours to get the old gasket and a couple of litres of old sealer off the manifold and heads . The whole job took about 7 hours . Put it all back together now the auto seems to slip when changing gears . Any suggestions ?
