Yesterday was a clean and the obvious thing you do when you get something your happy about putt past your mates and pull in for a quick social visit. Today was 2 new rear tyres, backs on the fronts, fronts on the backs. Still looking for rims so no need to do the lot at once. I’ll be back there next R&R lol Then back again after she’s painted and I’ve found some rims..... Also any one know of anyone that has a Monaro bonnet for a VT VU VX, colour doesnt matter getting painted next R&R
Easter stay at home day 3- interior vacuum and a decent seat and dash clean. More blatant product placement. That’s it this weekend might mow the grass tomorrow
Changed the Oxy sensor out that had been throwing up a code now and then on the SS. Noticed it somehow has a possible extra muffler in 1 side only just after that oxy sensor And realised I now need bonnet struts for 2 cars.
Damn that looks nice. Good job mate! I'm tossing up the idea with going with a HSV triple dash pod. I want to install Oil pressure, Vac/Boost (will SC eventually) and AFR gauges into a blank 3 pod gauge housing. Since i've got an aftermarket head unit, the SID isn't working. I know I can get it reflashed, but the idea of having the triple gauge appeals to the 12-yo Ricer in me. haha. Intake spacer testing is going well too. Bimodals are still working like a treat, also considering doing a Baille tip swap or perhaps getting slightly bigger tips.
Checked to see if the garage dust collectors were still there. They were, just quietly rusting away due to lack of use. Petrol is cheap and nowhere to go. Nearly a month now without a good drive, thanks to self isolation, and now 'stay at home'.
One of the few upsides about still being in an essential industry (Power). No Traffic and Cheap fuel makes for a cruisy run even if the depot is a 180km round trip Ended up having all 3 out in the past week to give them a run. The Tunnels and the sound of the S/C V8 topped off the Thursday.
Me and me mate were talking about the extra three gauges today...... depending what you have you may have them coming down the pillar or centre dash or if you have old school muscle they may be outside the cab...... it looks great to people who don’t know ****
Did... Did you just reply to your own comment? I digress, i'm considering my options here. I'm tossing up whether or not to go with AFR/Boost-Vac/Oil pressure using AEM Gauges or going with Boost-Vac/ Oil Pressure/Volts using Defi gauges. I was going to go with SAAS but I read all kinds of horror stories with their units. I'm leaning towards the AEMs because they have the option to have Silver rings on the outside, and that'll more closely match the interior to OEM spec. Only issue is _where_ i'd stick the AFR gauge. Maybe at the centre of the cross pipe I plan on installing?
Yep. For reference I've got an Alloytec. SAAS makes a component which adapts the stock M16x1.5 thread of the LLT to a 1/8 NPT thread, sadly they screwed the pooch with the fitting by using silicone washers, so I replaced those with copper crush washers (It's a banjo fitting, and we all know Banjos need copper washers!). I have already got a SAAS oil pressure gauge on there to monitor that side of things, at least to some degree, but it's by no means accurate. Most gauges come with 1/8NPT fittings. As for Boost and Vacuum, well I made a spacer for those which adds 3x 1/8 NPT ports between the TB and IM. Currently i've got a prototype version of the part working my Bimodals at the moment, and plan on releasing these in batches of five or so when I get to the final stage. The AEM gauges use an electronic pressure sensor which happens to take a 1/8 NPT fitting. As for an AFR gauge you gotta weld an O2 sensor bung into your exhaust somewhere. On NA cars AEM recommends you stick it 18" from the headers. It'll probs get moved when I eventually boost. So i'll probs go with AEM's gauge kit. Depends on how the USD goes, otherwise if the Defi ends up cheaper i'll go with that. Both are top quality gauge kits though
Test drove the mrs Cruze after my repair to the split intercooler hose that 2 mechanics missed. Seeing as it's getting traded in and oem hose being expensive, heavy duty heat shrink sealed up the split hose. Happy days haha
Fitted a VCM OTR and infill panel’s to the mistress before After very happy with it and it feels like the cars more responsive and pulls much harder and it might be a bit of a placebo but the car sounds louder (exhaust and engine)
Got home late in arvo & decided to change 2 busted engine mounts in vy sv8...did it just under 2hrs. First hour still had daylight & trying to find tools for the job then last 45mins in darkness with mozzies. Had new mounts clunking around backseat for ages & lacked time/motivation to do the job & not as bad swapping v6 mounts but mildly annoying for driveway job.
