Fk me.... exhaust is 3/4 on. But i can not get the rear rubber ring on, even with two screw drivers. Towbar is making it near impossible. Think I know why they fitted a straight pipe on the rear last time a new exhaust was fitted. Bastard can sit it the shed for a few days... Already said enough Fs and Cs for one day......

Sometimes when things aren't working or fitting as desired, walking away for 15mins and then coming back is all it takes for it to work correctly. Catches me out all the time.
(I note only 19mins between your 2 posts)

Hahaha yeah was about a 10min break ate a toasted sandwich and had a drink. Just enough time cool down and refocus.

Changed my rear control/trailing arms today. Glad I did it, as the the bushings had just given up all together

How many km on those arms? Suspect mine probably need doing sometime in the not too distant future.

I have suspicions they could be original, but they've got at least 100k on them, as the previous owner said he didn't replace them

Few days ago i replaced the inlet manifold on my vs wagon from instructions on this forum all went rather smooth till it came time to remove the manifold i did not have a rubber mallet i tried for a while using a bit of wood and a hammer eventually it came free.
I think replacing the inlet manifold has fixed my vs wagons mystery oil leak ,it was leaking at the very front corners of the manifold gasket.
I am yet to do 20km in it to test it i did a 3km drive the other day and it is running very smooth and changing gears better
The inlet gasket was leaking water out the exhaust causing an every so slight rough idle.
