My vs ute is the poor cousin to my other two vehicles. It only gets work done that needs doing. Today must have been it's birthday
as I changed the spark plugs. I have owned it for about five years and this is the first time that I have changed them. I think I should
have changed them a while ago as it is a lot more responsive in starting and running.

Drove to SA today, carry racks with timber screwed to them and 2 x 3m, 90/45s, no tonneau cover and i still reckon i was getting 11lph. I reckon i used 70-72L from Melbourne to Normanville.
Looking forward to testing mileage with 3.45s. I reckon on flat highway with 3.45s, tonneau cover and no rear carry bar, 10lph should be easy.
On another note sometime in the last week my odo has stopped. I only noticed it today as i should have been close to my 5k oil change. Tried resetting it and nothing, stayed on 0000. NFI where to buy the gears besides eBay. But they won't arrive before I leave if i have them sent here. Tried Car Parts Plus and no luck.

    Hi Losh,

Good to see your on the big island now.

I have a set of sun gears that I fitted to a dead speedo so they are not used at all. If you want we can fit them when you get here.

My ute will be wondering whats gone wrong. I washed it, vacuumed it out and got some wiper blades from Costco.
They had them on special at $12 each, can't go wrong with that. I put the same make on the ve, they seem to be
alright. Makes you wonder why they charge so much from Repco and other similar outfits. These wiper blades are
from the States so they have cartage to add to the cost. I'm quite sure they aren't selling them at a loss.

I just paid $5 each for wiper blades at Car Parts Plus. Repco $25 the pair. I bought 2 sets which will last me until next time i head to SA. I also bought a TPS to keep in the glove box. Also booked the ute in for a dyno run and print out. $150 beats $280 at Launceston. I also filled up at Mobil for $1.33 for 95, 95 in Launceston is $1.59, with a Woolies 6c off docket. Lovin it made huge savings, already which cheapens the trip over by a fair amount.

Sorry Pete, other than I got them from Costco, that they are made by Michelin and they were discounted by $3 I can't help.

Had a meet and greet today with VS-lover. Turns out he is a top bloke. He ended up helping me fix my odo that had stopped around a week ago. Turns out this is a fairly tricky job that I am really glad I didn't have to fix it myself, even with online help. There is quite a few things that can go wrong, like busted parts if you haven't done one before. Also made a trip after the visit to UPI at Gillman. Turns out not one Commodore ute in stock. Bugger I was hoping to score a headliner. But all was not lost on the way out I found a decent Maxxis 205/60r15. I pull out my $25 and he asks if I'm a member. Yeah I am, so decent tyre was only $15. I checked online and in a 15" this will be about as close as I can get to a 225/50r16 in diameter. Hopefully the tyre place in town will be able to strip and fit it for me, as I'd rather not cart it all the way back home in the tub to have it fitted when I get back.

Check the online stock list before visiting UPI. I have found it to be accurate but new vehicles take a few days to get listed and I don't count on the old date vehicles having any decent parts left.

I checked online a couple of days earlier and both Lonsdale and Gillman had utes. Best to check on the same day I now think.

Used to be a regular at old Sydney U-PULL-IT.

Part prices changed everyday depending on who was at the counter & dependant on their also.

Biggest drawcard was polaroid mugshots of all the idiots who got caught on camera throwing parts over the fence or trying to walk out with them.

Pulled the dash cluster out and changed the speedo cog, also replaced the dash bulbs that didn't work.
Adjusted the door striker so the door opens like a new car now.
Painted the wiper arms black, looks better with fresh coat
Changed the wheels on the ute...
Now im off to do the window regulator which will finish it off

Got a CEL 4 or 5 times today. Haven't scanned yet as run out of time. But a quick check underneath i noticed a cable to the speed sensor was looking dodge. Gave it a slight yank and the stupid crimp joiners pulled off. I hardly use these anymore for that very reason. I normally now use solder joiners but I was out when replaced the plug on the speed sensor, probably two years ago now. I hand soldered it this time but I knew it was going to be a bastard holding the two cables together. I got it done after about an hour of messing around. Alligator clip on this occasion would have made the job 50 times easier. All good now, shrink tube and conduit, so it should be good for 10 years now. Need to add solder joiners and alligator clips to the shopping list. What was fortunate is that it didn't completely separate while half way home, or it would have been first or second gear all the way.

Damn corrugated road on the way to and from home has caused another fatality. This time my rear exhaust hangers busted. I thought I was hearing a rattle. Thought oh **** I have a suspension knock. Had to do quick fix today with cable ties as I didn't want it busting right off and destroying the cat back. Have to try and find some #8 exhaust hangers hopefully Midas near work can sell me some.

I've placed a deposit on a 10.5 x 9 x 3.5 with 17.5deg roof. I'm still waiting for the block to settle so I can submit plans. Good thing is I have saved enough for the balance of the kit. Now saving for the slab and labour costs. I've outgrown the 7.5 x 7.5 and I just filled it up some more with a ute load brought back from SA this week. Looking forward to having a third bay. I have too much gear for a 7.5 x 7.5. Although I seen a mates shed the other day around 7 x 7 and his shed makes mine look like I have tons of space....
