Well I have sampled quite a few different petrol stations BP/Shell/Caltex etc..

I found the best that works well the the bmw (535i V8) is Shell V Power.... and for the VZ SS Ute I have, the prev owner said he was filling 98... don't think he was as soon as I filled the VZ a couple of times with 98 noticed smoother engine, good performance and economy

Traditionally, I've only used Shell V-Power 98 in my car but recently I've started trialling Shell E10 91 to see if there's much difference. My VE SS 2 is tuned for E85, and I've noticed 2-3L/100 increase in around town driving and next to nothing in power. Will also try some United E10 95 and maybe E85 if I can find it in Sydney.

Got the E10 91 for $1.05/L with discount the other week so it's cheap motoring.

Not sure why, but my trips into work the last two weeks on E85 have gone from the usual 23L/100kms to 33L/100kms. I hope it's just that the traffic is worse and this isn't the normal fuel economy I should expect.

That was factory tuning. You obviously don't have a Series II SS to know.

    Thanks for the input though.

Nah mate you mean factory flex fuel compatible versus tuned for (optimum performance from) e85.
    Practically there's a big difference.

Potentially, I'm just going by what's written in the driver's manual.

With it tuned for E85 would you get better fuel economy?

Good thinking. I just use regular unleaded in mine without any issues.

So obviously you don't know anything about your own car bar the owners manual. It's not tuned for E85.

Yes better economy and more control over how much fuel is used. That includes an increase at WOT as well.

Only ever run my VY2 SS on BP 98. No idea at all if the car runs better on it or is more economical or not but it makes me feel better putting the expensive juice in my car :D

I'd consider getting my car 'tuned' for E85 if I could find a vendor with the fuel close to home.

There's just not enough local stations that stock E85 for me to justify an E85 tune.

    I'm Brisbane south.
The closest United station (that supplies E85) is 15 - 20 minutes drive, however I'd pass two BP's and two Shell's just to get there.
I'm not worried though, I find 98Ron provides what I need.

Yeah United at Arundel is the best in QLD I've found, eFlex is available around you though:
