My mum now drives (and owns) our old modded Vr commy, its abit over done (kitted and fairly big stereo) she loves it cause heaps of guys pull up at the lights checking out then car and give it a little rev (for turbos a little psttuutututuu) then when they get to the window they crap themselves cause its a little lady with glasses driving some of their faces are just golden.... you think the purple number plates would give it away :whistling I do the opposite, I see a guy driving a barina or excell and wonder "is it his gf car?" Sad to think they couldn't get a real car My missus grew up around her uncles workshop so she knows heaps about cars, kinda cool cause she understands when the "modifying bug" bites
Commodore, Calais, same thing. I am actually looking forward to not owning a Holden. Sick of the stigma that comes with owning one.
you idiots lol i was asking where she lived to see if she lived in QLD so i can say where to go for car meets. lol I've got a girlfriend, cant a guy be nice?
I think the main issue with girls driving cars like Commodores is the perception that comparitively few females are car-minded. To most women, a car is a necessity but also tends to be a bit of a fashion accessorty. There are cars that are actively marketed and targetted at young females and the market expects to see younger women driving those cars. Commodores, especially modified ones, are perceived as "masculine". To see a female in a modified Commodore is a comparitive rarity and the natural assumption is that its the boyfriends/husband's car. I often wonder how many women I see driving hulking four wheel drives really want to be driving them. My assumption is that the old man wants his big, boofy clunking 4WD and wifey can just lump it.
Minux How can you remain a moderator on a Commodore oriented forum when you cease to own or even want one? Owning one isn't the end of the world. What stigma? Commodores appeal to such a wide variety of people. I admit that HSV's appeal to a much smaller market, but is that the reason for the stigma? I always thought that HSV owners demonstrated a fondness for Holdens, but with just a bit more than the standard car offers. What's wrong with that?
Who says I will remain a moderator? Regardless, we do have a mod or 2 that DO NOT own a Commodore, not sure where it states that people must own a commodore to moderate a commodore fourm, but anyways. I have my reasons for my dislikes, as for HSV, unfortunatley they made the mistake of mass producing cars so any bogan can own one, the only way you can have something different now is to buy new and top of the range, to be honest though, who really wants to pay near 100k for a dressed up commodore? I just wish HSV kept things to limited build numbers to prevent morons owning them and ruining a brand name with their idiocy. Anyway, many other reasons, but this nor the time or place.
Very very well said, you know what i'm talking about! I agree, mite have to tone down the 'blokey-ness' bit and play dumb, except when a mechanic decides to pull one over me and I can correct him!
What I would give for my wife to be into cars. There just isn't enough chicks like yourself who enjoy keeping a tidy slightly modified car. The Mrs looks at me sideways when I spend an hour or 2 cleaning the inside of my car, but then when she hops into it she is like, now this is nice :bang: The whole thing is that you are a minority, and some of us males will praise you for it, might even show some intrest towards you because of it and the morons will just think that you have the BF's car. You could always get that sticker "it isn't my boyfriends" or something like that. Just enjoy your car and remember that some of us males would love to have a partner with interests in cars
I use the "is it your boyfriends car?" to suss out if the lass is single, or if she has an attitude. If she is single i get her to chop out her number, and if not then its fun to stir her up
Yeah its all good and well in a relationship, but then there is these little competitions over the money.... Like atm Craig and I are "debating" over weather he should get his diff done first or if I should lower my wagon and get it tinted first..... :bang: lol.
My missus knows next to nothing about cars apart from what I've taught her, but loves to drive and go for cruises with me. I even let my girlfriend drive my car (shock horror!). I wouldn't say a girl who's into cars is hotter, just gives a common interest that you can use as a channel to pick her up! She lets me do the things that i'm good at and I let her do what she's good at. Its a pretty good relationship that yesterday lasted 3 years so its a formula that works.
Damn straight :yeah: It's awesome when I see chicks drive "decent" cars, they share a passion with me... love cars. So awesome seeing a hot chick drive a hot car  reason guys say that is most likely cause their jealous that you drive a nice car while their car is crapper than yours or their girlfriend drive ****boxes like a Camry Altise :whistling Don't pay attention to them douche bags.
Being a woman, you should lower the fridge first, maybe a super burner on the oven. Mods should be the last things women do to cars, obviously chains too long. Now lets hope my fiance doesnt read this post :whistling
I like the fact she got a white commodore at least it matches the rest of a womans necessitys like the dishwasher fridge washing machine clothes dryer all the tools of the trade
Yes, hahaha I bought a white car so I wouldn't get confused and wanted it to blend in with all my household appliances??? Rather i bought a white one so my boyfriend at the time would mistake it for a washing machine and not touch it :whistling
women can drive what eva the **** they want personally i love it ey especially when its a V8 i love a commie girl hahaha
Am I the only one that see's loads of "beauty challenged" and "weight challenged" commodore drivers? I swear I rarely see a non "beauty challenged" young female in a commodore.
Youve gotta see the "inner beauty" craig But i do concur....... and "Beatuy/Weight challenged" is such a great way of putting it!
