what make a calais so heavy?

i herd calais weigh a fair bit more than executives makiin dem a bit slower? wtf makes it heavier surely tha just tha leather that puts on the extra kilos ... what does

well you have cruise control, power windows (wich have reinforced doors), power mirrors, thicker carpet, heavier seats, trip computer, climate control, electric arial, better quality interior parts (eg door trims) and external door moulds

all these things dont weigh much more than exec options but when they are all put together it turns out to be quite a bit

the calais' have extra sound deadner in them and electric everything has a lot to do with it too. this is meant to be a comfy, quite and smooth ride and everything is meant to be easier, thats why it weighs more.

In a way I'm glad I own a SL, over the Calais, because the SL is the lightest of all the VLs, at 1253Kg. Not very heavy, for their size. (Well one without 18s or a sound systen)

Then again the Calais', in every model are the coolest, because of all the electrics, you get with them.:yeah:

just some information that may interest you, a VT Calais wiring harness weighs just under 100kg.
