I do have a chuckle when I hear people say their stock Eco's or Buick's go really hard just because it's a BT1. It's even more funny when people think 100rwkw is a lot of power.....

yeah exactly, I mean people drive certain cars for whatever reason, but you've got to be a bloody realist..

Now if I could get hold of a BT1 Cop Chip

Good luck, everyone's heard of them, but no ones ever seen one!

I was driving series 1 VT ECOTEC General Duties Police cars around '99-'00, and let me me tell you they were just as slow and underpowered as the ones Joe Public could buy.

However Holden were still making dedicated 'police packs' at the time, so they did have long range tanks, duel batteries, upgraded alternators, 2km/h increment speedos, rather than 5km/h, bash plates underneath for hopping gutters, upgraded headlights, electronic (Fcuking loud) horn, extra looms installed from factory for all the extra gear, 'dark mode' to turn off all dash lights at night, no 'detent' between second and third and first gear, so you could slam it down without pressing the button, FE2, 15 inch chaser rims and a few other little things...but damn they were slow...dodgy cop chips in them obviously.. ;) by the time VE rolled around most of that was gone, probably in the name of streamlining production, who knows..

Yeah, maybe ask the OP in this thread, he seems to believe in fairy tales.....

yeah read that and promptly facepalmed...

One of the more interesting things they trialled was prisoner modules in the back of commodores around VY. The theory being that sedans are better at speed than utes (when not carrying crooks of course). That lasted about twelve months when field reviews came back to fleet indicating the difficulties of 'placing' non compliant very large islander men in them..plus the padlocks they bolted to the C pillar could be broken by one or two kicks from inside the door..so back to rodeos we went..

I own a 1977 ex-cop car...No it's not a Holden....It's a valiant....Many young ones asked me if it was a cop car, being baby blue in colour and did it have the magic cop chip....I had a couple of replies...1, of course it has...2/..Na I cleaned the stale ones out, and 3rd, bit hard when it has a carby...Now the last one I used to get a blank stare as if to say, WTF is a carby..

The funny thing is, the coppers used to enjoy the 6 bangers as chasers over the V8's, which mine is....The 6 bangers used to have more off the mark, when compared to the 8's, so it made it easier to catch upto people quicker

Used - like new..o_O

I paid $100 for a mint old complete intake to suit my VX SS when I binned the OTR, plus another $150 for a new OEM plastic radiator cover to tidy things up, oh, and another $80 for a K&N to suit

So there's that :)

I really only needed a OEM airbox as I wanted to "clean up" the engine bay and unblock a big chunk of the radiator that the VCM OTR blocked prior to installing a HTV2300

I wasn't happy with the whole aftermarket look the old OTR thing gave when opening the bonnet

I did drop $150 on a plastic radiator cover that I chopped to fit initially to see how it made me feel, but, yeah nah, I sold the lot to a kid for $50 for his project

Yes, I do realise the blower thing negating the OEM look, but, meh.......

In the end you pay what you need to to get what your after
