If your engine is in good condition it might not need rebuilding..

Yes your motor could last a week but it could last for ages.. If you want reliability then rebuild it but the proof is in the pro flow test car that is a unopened ecotec with over 400,000km on the clock running 19psi and 11s.. Also their is another guy on this forum thats making over 300kw on standard internals if i can remember correctly… Isnt alloytec got forged pistons and cranks and rods from factory???? Read it in a streetcommodore mag

Might be more cost efficient and safer to run a raptor charger on it at 9psi, driveability will remain and will put a grin on my face hopefully lol.. then look into a turbo kit later along with a full 4.2l stroker rebuild
Also, im running an ecotec , not alloytec

Man just buy a gen conversion you will be happier in the long run and you could just smash a blower on that!

Lol oh i thought you had a VZ geez at first i thought it was a VS and second thought it was VZ.. FARK… :banstick: Yeh ecotecs are fairly strong if they in good condition.. I reckon go a raptor. something with smooth power delivery would be ideal for better reliability.. turboed 4.2ltr would haul some ass and it will deff put a smile on your dile.. Put some frowns on the 8s tho when your V6 woops it.. :boxing: (depending)

i have to admit with a few posts above.

    stroker with forced induction.

if your going to do it right, you may aswell do it all at once.

plus it would be something that isnt too common.

Also good thing about turbo is you can drive it *off boost* which is a good thing and its improves fuel eco as you would probably already know.. Chuck a T56 behind it and you will have that extra gear for the highway which will help again because it will have the revs even lower again i reckon it would probably sit around 1400 1500rpm at 100/110kph depending on gearing so that would be good and also for the strength of it aswell...

wouldnt the low end torque of l67 do a better job of saving fuel lower in the rev range?? just curious is all

i reckon 4.2L stroker kit+ tt kit and as suggested t56 box, although ive heard 1st in these things with just the standard ratio is heaps short? with 3.89 gears itd be unuseable , therefore still only really having 5 gears like the getrag

btw, fuel eco is not a concern, its nice to have good fuel eco... but willing to sacrifice for power

Not to sure… Maybe but maybe not because it has all the extra pulleys and constantly on boost so not 100% sure

If i remember correctly mal wood can change the ratio for you to suit your needs.. Like if you wanna go higher or lower he can do it.. Get the whole T56 conversion kit off mal.

yeah i always thought a turbo motor off boost would use more fuel due to lower compression ratio meaning it wouldnt be running as effeciently as possible... maybe someone else has the answer although most of them probably stick to the v8 section now lol

Yeah i suppose.. Good thinking never thought of that. Maybe a tune would sort it out cause he would obviously haft to get a tune anyway.. Lol yeah i know although i love V8s i really like high powered V6s that would smash a V8..
