What range should my key remote have ?

i never had remote locking in my car. then one day i got a new key but the central locking still didnt work. and then thekey place said the car probably doesnt have remote central locking :(

Vr batteries can be replaced.

apparently vs batteried when removed lose their memory

is that definate? might need to replace the battery in mine. any idea what battery they use?

Mines behind the windscreen between the vent trims on the dash

on a VN-VS thats where the sun temp sensor thing is

You can crack open the VS keyhead - Jaycar sell batteries to fit and have tags attached to the battery which must be soldered in like the original. The VS remote will not lose it's memory with the battery removed as long as you replace it within a few days.
There is a "How to" I think in that section.

I rang holden today and they said a key is $86 and programming is $55 extra. total about $140
Does this sound right ? Is "programming" something i can do myself or are they just being nobs and confusing me with 2 prices ?
