Well recently I had a VZ Senator spoiler for sale on gumtree and I had a guy call me on Sunday last week saying he was really interested since he rear ended some guy and had to repair his back end. So the guy was real keen and said yep ill come tomorrow morning to pick it up, I was at work so I got my mum to answer and everything. So all went well I got the money he got the spoiler.... I get a text the next day saying he wants to come back and wants his money back since its the wrong one for the car? The thing that gets me is when we were talking on the phone I said is it a senator your putting it on since I had taken the middle stud out and he goes yes.... Then he goes to me that it must be odyssey blue since he had a mate with a white one but wouldn't be able to get it painted in time. Do you reckon I should give him his $ back or is it his fault for getting the wrong one. I know with all gumtree sellers I dealt with they wouldn't give a rats ass if I got the wrong item from them but I guess im just a bit of an introvert. Maybe ill text him saying sorry I had to spend the money on fixing my car.
what do you mean? I am just seeing what everyone would do. I know that if I ever asked some of the people I bought crap off from gumtree they would tell me to get ####ed
yep, he should have researched it first, assuming you supplied pics, and he was happy on pickup, too bad, so sad. he can resell it himself. bit of a lesson for him to pay attention a bit more.
Yeh that's my reasoning for not caring since in my ad I said it is a VZ Senator spoiler. I reckon whats happened is his mate has probably said he will give it to him cheaper, since my mum said he was talking about getting it painted anyway, and he is just bs'ing about being the wrong one since he specifically asked for if it is for a senator and if I could replace the middle stud (I told him I took it out since the ss didn't have a hole in the middle of the boot.) Thanks for input people.
depending what way you want to go about it. say he bought it for $250 you could say ill give you $200 back minus $50 for my trouble of having to resell it. if hes not happy he can sell it. he shouldnt have such a hard time moving it. even a business wouldnt give him his money back for simply changing his mind. me personally id be thinking whatever way gets me the most money
yes,you could make a few extra $ out of it perhaps?...only way I would consider refund was if he rocked around with the said car to prove the error was genuine, prob b/s so buyer beware or tough titties :smoking:
buyer beware. as long as you where honest when you sold the item, that's all that matters. not your problem if it doesn't fit the car.
if he has your address id give him a refund. these days you never know who your dealing with, $200 odd bucks isnt worth the hassle from some ####wit if he decides to get smart. thats just my humble opinion though.... or you can tell him sorry you already spent the money.
This is why I always meet people at the servo round the corner these days, can never be too careful with gumtree
No way id give a refund bad luck you told him what he was getting thats his problem Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
As you can see already, everybody has their own view and they are equally in favour of "give it back/don't give it back". Legally, as long as you represented the item accurately in your ad, you are under no obligation at all to refund his money. It's what you feel most comfortable doing that matters. Make up your own mind and act accordingly.
I bought headlights recently and after accepting and inspecting on site and getting home decided that it wasnt worth my hassle, initially. BUT i accepted them, I said yes at the time and walked away with them. 1. I accepted the deal verbally/email upon my questioning 2. Accepted the state of them in person 3. Accepted the good with exchange of money. As the seller, you did your part. Its the buyer whom hands over the money and so in such, his responsibility and not yours. Note: headlights now fixed and happy
Ye I decided for once im not going to try and accommodate someone else needs and do **** for my self since I realised no other sellers ever take the extra step for me like I always do with my buyers. I guess if he does call ill try and offer him 250 for it (sold it for 550, bought it initially for 500) He just caught me off guard when he texted me saying "ye mate im going to bring this back its the wrong one" I was like wahhhh? Obviously I wouldn't be in this situation if I had met him at the shops around the corner like I usually do but since I am at work quite a bit now I had to get my mum to give it to him otherwise I would have lost a sale.
lol he is already in trouble for not smashing into someone and not having insurance I doubt he will want more
