u'd wanna remove the sump from the engine, as you dont want any metal bits flowing round your engine thats for sure. some ppl have poored old oil or really thin oil thru it whilst drilling to flush the shards away, but i just wouldnt trust it. remove it, drill/tap it, clean and reinstall or take it to a mechanic, although i cant garrentee that he wont drill it still attached to the engine.

dont see why u cant use a T piece or 2 of em, u will get a good reading and although you wont get a heap of oil flowing in there it'll still be accurate.

you will need to drill a hole and weld a bung onto it... the sump is way too thin to tap a thread into. if you cant weld maybe take the sump off and get a bung and even just take it to an exhaust shop... im sure they would weld it on for you.. would only take them 2 minutes.

VZ GTO. VS LS1.
what is the name/size of the t - peice that i need to buy?

You need a t-piece that is 1/4 NPT thread. Needs to have one male and two female threads. Its not a particularly common thread and is generally only used in pressure systems (hence the thread being tapered) so your best bet would be to try and source it from a business that deals with hydraulics and that sort of stuff.
